Toyota Motor Europe press release 10.

The French government is increasing subsidies for hybrids and electric vehicles (EVs), reports Just-auto. The announcement came at an official meeting in Paris on Wednesday (25 July). Subsidies for EVs will be increased from EUR 5,000 (USD 6,050) to EUR 7,000 (USD 8,475) and by a maximum of EUR 4,000 (USD 4,843) for hybrid vehicles.

Toyota Motor Europe 2012 sales up 2% (+15,583 units) in a sharply declining market
In a declining European market, Toyota Motor Europe (TME) today announced a 2% sales increase in 2012 with sales totaling 837,969 vehicles, up 15,583 from 2011, including 792,359 Toyota and 45,610 Lexus vehicles, representing an estimated 4.5% market share, up 0.3 point from last year.
Brussels, Belgium - “Thanks to our new product launches in 2012, the good results of the Yaris, and of our hybrid vehicles line up, we were able to continue growing despite the severe market conditions affecting Europe,” said Didier Leroy, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe. "2013 will remain extremely challenging for the industry in Europe, but we are confident that both Toyota and Lexus will grow further in 2013 for the third consecutive year on the European continent. More importantly, this will be done in a sustainable and profitable way.”
In 2013, Toyota sales are expected to further increase thanks to a product offensive in the essential C- segment with the introduction of the new Auris, the new Auris Touring Sports, the new Verso, and the fourth generation RAV 4.
In Western Europe, the UK has shown a strong year with Toyota and Lexus sales of 101,822 units, up 12% from 2011. In France, sales remained stable in a market down 13%, leading to a market share growth of 0.4 point to an estimated 3.3%.
In the Nordic Region, sales in Denmark rose 8% with sales of 17,966 units in 2012. The Baltic Region saw sales of 5,884 units, up 20% from the previous year.
In Central and Eastern Europe, despite signs of the markets’ slowdown in the last quarter, TME posted healthy gains in Russia and Ukraine with 27% (169,282 units) and 13% (15,676 units) sales increase over 2011 respectively. In Kazakhstan, Toyota and Lexus enjoyed record sales with 9,223 units.
Sales of Lexus vehicles increased 4.5% over 2011, driven by the continuous success of the CT 200h and the successful launches of the Lexus GS, ES and renewed Lexus RX. For Lexus, Russia continues to be a strong market with record sales of 15,655 units, up 14% from 2011, while the Netherlands posted an exceptional sales increase of 43% thanks to the Lexus CT 200h.
"While we are pleased to see the Lexus brand grow further in Europe, especially in Central & Eastern Europe, we also expect Lexus to perform well in 2013 in the West, with the launch of the highly anticipated new Lexus IS, available for the first time in a hybrid variant,"said Leroy.
Hybrid Highlights
2012 was a milestone year for the sales of Toyota and Lexus full hybrid vehicles in Europe. Cumulative sales of hybrid vehicles topped 500,000 units last December, and 2012 was the first year Toyota and Lexus sold more than 100,000 units during a calendar year.
Hybrid vehicles contributed to more than 13% of total TME sales in 2012 with full year sales of 109,478 units, including 83,699 Toyota and 25,779 Lexus hybrid vehicles. In the Netherlands, Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicles contributed to up to 45% of the sales mix.
In 2012, Toyota and Lexus launched no less than 6 new or renewed full hybrid models including a plug-in hybrid derivative. Yaris Hybrid and Auris Hybrid now account for one third of the total Yaris and Auris sales.
For Lexus, full hybrid vehicles made up 90% of total sales in Western Europe in 2012.
Toyota Highlights
Toyota’s built-in-Europe models saw an overall sales increase in 2012, driven by the strong sales of the Toyota Yaris, the Yaris Hybrid and the Toyota Camry. In a declining B-segment, the Yaris model range grew 27% with sales of 182,841 vehicles. Sales of the Toyota Camry reached 40,811 units, a 68% increase from 2011.
With sales of over 171, 830 units, Toyota sales of SUVs and 4WDs in Europe remained strong. Land Cruiser posted a sales increase of over 27%. Sales of the Toyota Hilux were up 22% from 2011 with 35,391 units sold. In 2013, with the launch of the 4th generation RAV 4, Toyota will certainly reinforce its position in this traditional segment.
Lexus Highlights
The Lexus CT 200h remained Lexus biggest seller in Europe (15,599 units) while the new GS enjoyed a strong debut year with sales reaching 4,812 units.
The Lexus RX model range saw sales of 14,841 units in 2012, up 7% from last year. The Lexus LX achieved record sales of 4,798 units.
